Cannot initialize DVB hardware. Code: 1

Postby gringo » Tue Nov 01, 2011 2:00 pm

Hiya.

I'm getting "Cannot initialize DVB hardware. Code: 1" message at random times when trying to run dvbdream and "random" means that I rather cannot get it working; it only works ocasionally when it meets unknown for me conditions.

I've got a fresh install of Win7 Ult and the TSB 6922 (@ driver 1.0.0.6) card is recognised by the system and sometimes DVBDream regognises it as well.

I've tried to reinstall DD, it didn't work at first, but after a few restarts it worked. Now it doesn't work again.

Any help would be appreciated.

I can say that it is nothing DD related from the log files.
Your system doesn't seem to sse the card as a BDA tuner device.
because of drivers / chipsets.
Did you try other DVB apps ? when the problem occured.
Did you try on XP or on another PC ?

Thanks for your reply rel :)

Yes, today I tried ProgDVB and it has the same problem unfortunatelly.

The funny thing is that I got this card working perfectly after I installed a fresh copy of W7, it had great L/Q reception, was scanning fast, HD channels perfect... then "something" happened and I had it working at random occurrences, now it's gone for good, however the card is still recognised by Windows as a fully working device.

I also tried uninstalling device from the system (both driver and physical card) then I updated the chipset driver, rebooted and again the card got recognised OK but no success with any DVB software, even after updating card driver to the newest version. Also I've got very limited amount of software installed and I don't really see a potential culprit causing conflicts (see attached screen shot)

Then from this point of view it must be the card driver which causes problems, am I right?

Any further support would be appreciated.

Thank you.

gringo.

ps. What other chipsets I should also update?
I'm not too deep into IT stuff so didn't even know there is more than one chipset :) btw "chipset" itself is (in my whole ignorance) just an IT slang for me, I wish I knew what it is responsible for :]

- make sure the PC case / your card doesnt get hot, that is, cooled enough
- make sure the card is physically well connected to computer and there is no dust to prevent electrical connection.
- install w7 again as fresh and see DD running fine. afterwards watch the changes you make. one of the programs you installed or some setting change in the programs could have cause the problem
- make sure of that you have latest versions of TBS drivers, do a search on internet if there are other people who are having the same problem with this device, maybe it is simply driver related problem. might need to contact with TBS enginners
