dvbdream full scrren after dvbepg channel select

I am now at the wow stage. have been able to get the sid to become the channel number and setup my remote with winlirc, things are quite sweet.

I have noticed however, that when i select a channel in dvbepg and select the watch now feature, ie simple change channel to the selected channel and make the dvbepg dissappear that my full screen window appears behind the dvbdream window. once again i feel i have messed up a setting without realizing it.

i currently have the video properties set to:
nvidia pure video with vmr9 and have also tried the overlay feature. neither has resulted in a change to the issue. This is nothing significant because i have set the F5 key, window, full screen and standard, to be one of the keys on my remote, nonetheless i would love for things to be super smooth.

edit: I just found something interesting, if i have the dvbepg guide set to not have the little window in the guide then when i select the channel, everything works out fine and the full screen is as one would expect, only if i have the little window does this issue appear. still don't have any idea what i have done wrong.
