no signal DVB-S2 8PSK transponders with Skystar 2 DVB-PC TV

Postby reverend » Thu Jan 27, 2011 1:52 am

Greetings!

I am new to this game having recently bought a TechniSat SkyStar 2 TV - DVB-S receiver (PCI) from a nice chap on ebay. Please bear with my obvious ignorance. When the card arrived, I spent 6 hours trying to get it to work both with the app that shipped with the card, and with the dvbdream trial but to no avail. The next day I managed to get the card working through a combination of luck and flaw. Actually, I think that my problem was that the BDA drivers don't seem to work with my setup. Once I switched to the regular drivers i finally got somewhere.

My question is should my card and the dvbdream 1.5e trial allow me to tune channels on DVB-S 8PSK transponders such as this one:

http://en.kingofsat.net/tp.php?tp=515

Which I currently get "no signal" from with the regular drivers on dvbdream 1.5e and Technotrend software version 4.6.0. I know I can see this transponder because my regular STB tunes into them fine.

My question may be answered in these posts:

...but I am afraid I am not sure that I fully understand the conclusions of the posts, and they appear inconclusive to me.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Think I have answered my own question. This page:

http://www.dvbdream.org/supported_devices.php

Indicates that my card understands DVB-S. Other cards (such as the SkyStar HD PCI) understand DVB-S2, but not mine.
