Questions about EPG module ver.1.3.3.0 by Momotte...

Postby Tom_ » Wed Feb 14, 2007 5:26 am

Hello,
I 've some Questions about this EPG module.

1) If I 'schedule' a recording, in which scheduler can I find the resulting entry (I cannot find it in XP taskplanner)

2) What happens if I mark 2 recordings with oberlapping time?

3) Is it possible to record more than one channel at the same time which are transmitted at the same frequency (transponder) using the EPG module for scheduling

4) Can I save my changes for colors fonts etc. into a own 'skin'

5) Is it possible to store the EPG info so that I can use the grid display for viewing the last days before?
Tom

1) The sheduled task should show up in the Window Task Scheduler. If it does not, there is a problem with your user access (make sure you are administrator on your system)

2) The first one starts, then the second one starts even if the recording of the first one is not over. Conflict management is not performed by DVBEPG...

3) No, this feature is part of DVBDream and not related to DVBEPG

4) Yes, you can customize the skin anyways you like. Look at how the skin.ini file samples are organized with the provided skins...

5) No, by design, older events are discarded. The only way to "hack" this would be for you to change your system's clock and open dvbepg after that with the "fake" time/date.

Thank you, Momotte...

Thank you for answering my questions. :D

If the tasks show up in windows task scheduler I can change start and end time manually in case of conflict.
I think this is the best conflict management...

I'll try to hack some dvbepg.ini values into skin.ini.
Let's see if it will work...

As you wrote there's no easy way to look at past events... hmm.
I needed to practice that method very often when I recorded manually. The recording program I used before (ProgDVB) did not name the record file by event name, but RelictEPG let me view the event name and description and let me copy/paste parts of the text to rename the record file correctly.

Some new questions:

6) Can I change the displayed order of the channels? I have many channels more than one time so the same names are displayed one after the other (I never use the duplicates) and waste much space of the display area...

7) Do you have a homepage with some infos about your EPG project, future plans etc.?

8 ) Multichannel recording - don't you think this feature could be very interesting? DVD Dream supports it - I don't know if there is a possibility to start DVD Dream multichannnel recording by command line (-> task planner)

8. Yes, it is possible.

From DVB Dream Help:

"Multi-record:

dvbdream.exe /startpiprec_chname='RAI2@0130' (Starts pip record on the current transponder)

dvbdream.exe /startpiprec_chid=524

dvbdream.exe /startpiprec_chno=8

dvbdream.exe /stoppiprec_chname='RAI2@0130' (Stops pip record)

dvbdream.exe /stoppiprec_chid=524

dvbdream.exe /stoppiprec_chno=8

dvbdream.exe /startrecordall (Records all the channels on the current transponder)

dvbdream.exe /stoprecordall (Stops all records)

Notes:

* Don't forget that if channel name includes space char, surround it with quotes. (e.g. 'TV 4')

* You could use dvbdream.exe straight away for cmdline params but this would be slow when changing channels and volume etc, due to exe size/loading delay. (so possible to use also dvbdream.exe /fullscreen)

* Multi-record functions should be used in seperate command lines.

* You can't start DD with multi-record cmd line options. They should be used after tuning to a channel initially. But you can use /startrecordall switch at startup like in the following example:

dvbdream.exe /chname='RAI1@0130' /startrecordall"

6) I do not quite understand your problem here, but anyways, look at the DVBEPG settings (especially the channel tab and the EPG tab)and see if you can figure out an option that suits you... there are many so...

7) Yes, but it is a private site. I am not releasing publically since a while... Sometimes, I bring out DVBEPG, but most releases/requests go through a selected bunch of friends/people because it was too much for me to handle when it was public... Sorry.

8) I guess it is possible, but you would have to modify the command line generated by DVBEPG since it is not directly supported.

I receive DVB-T and there are many channels found twice, triple... when I did the automatical channel scan. All these channels are shown in the channel list in alphabetical order. The same in your EPG.
But in your EPG diplay has not enough space to waste it by doublettes.

I know that you can select "favourites" but I have to check first how the favourites list of DVB Dream works...

Hmm...
It would be very nice if your EPG could support that in future.
If I do such things manually mostly it won't work because of my frequent typos... :)

EPG and remote control

Postby Ciscokid » Mon Feb 19, 2007 10:27 am

Hi Momotte,
I am using your guide and I like it a lot, my question is there is a way to make your guide work with the remote control.
Thank you

yes, it works as long as your remote emulates keyboard keys... you just have to go into the options and configure the shortcuts.
