Scanning channels (Nilesat)
Moderators:X05, Dreamer, FredB
Hi,
I need some help scanning channels using dvbream. Problem is I'm a complete dummy when it comes to Diseqc configuration (or any satellite configuration for that matter.)
I used mytheatre and simple set the lnb to k-universal and all the channels where obtained.
however i don't know why that doesn't happen in dvbdream even though the signal detection reads 204
dvbdream version 1.3
P.S. My apologies if this was asked before, please direct me to the right post if it was.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Scanning channels (Nilesat)
What exactly reads 204? If that's signal strength, the only time I saw those unreasonable numbers in DVBDream was when I tried out the Twinhan SDK rather than the BDA (DVB-S) driver. (The Twinhan direct driver wouldn't work with my 1025 at all.) This spurious condition resulted in zero channels found.however i don't know why that doesn't happen in dvbdream even though the signal detection reads 204

Ah, OK. What exactly shows "204" then?this one gives signal strength 0 in red.
All drivers and software for all Twinhan equipment can be found here: http://www.twinhan.com/download_driver&software.aspwhere do you find the BDA driver

Ok This is the Device list that appears

Of course the driver that I installed came with the device itself in a CD and I installed it (is that enough for DVB Dream or is there any other driver I need to install for it? )
As for the 204 thing, I'm gonna say it makes no sense since it still appears in the signal display under the tools menu even after I removed the connection
What else can I do to get the channels to scan and get the software to detect the satellite?

Well, maybe your Twinhan is different from my Twinhan. And the OP didn't mention which model of VisionPlus he has. Don't they all have numbers? Mine is a 1025. But as I noted above, the Twinhan Direct driver is the only driver (of the 3) that would not work with my card at all.you should choose Twinhan Direct 1.1.2

That takes the same BDA driver as my 1025 available near the middle of this page under Other Models.it's 1030A

ok but if I remove the old drivers coming from windows, it says no device detected.
If I install it over the other drivers that are used by windows to detect the h/w then it gets installed yet i see no difference at all, it' still the same.
TheKrell, I appreciate your help, but do you have any Idea why this might happen? ProgDVB doesn't work as well, yet myTheatre and DigitalTV have no problem in detecting
Thanks,

OK, I'm now thinking it's not a BDA driver problem.
Whether or not you have a Diseqc switch, you still have to set it to something in DVBdream, along with the LNB-type, or you will indeed get nothing. You do this by using the menu as follows: Options --> Diseqc --> None. That's if indeed you have no switch.
Look in that window. It should show a little wrench icon with "None" next to it, and Port 1 below. Highlight Port 1 and select Add Satellite. Finally, in the Sattelite pop-up window, you select the satellite you're pointed at, and your LNB type. Dismiss (OK) all switch configuration windows and then scan again.
Let us know if that does the trick!
