Advice needed - SS2 / Disqc / Legacy Setup + Statellite scan

Postby pharos » Mon Aug 20, 2007 8:27 am

Good Day Folks,

Just came across this excellent site recently, so glad I did - lots of great info .

I did a lot of reading lately here on the forum and elsewhere and I apologize if this has been discussed already but I would like some advice if possible from the experts around here.

I recently purchased a Technisat SkyStar 2 (V2.6x) and installed it in my P4 2.4/1gb mem/256mb vid system.

I currently have the system setup with :

- Sats 110/119 echostar
- both hooked up on a disqc switch - 119 / port A - 110 / port b
- using 2 old single legacy DN lnb's

I seem to be able to scan satellites ok but there seems to be some overlapping of transponders I can't firgure out and I thought maybe it's my disqc setup....

Both LNB's are setup thru disqc 1.0/2.0 and are set with LNB LEGACY with LOF of 112500000 - is this correct for my setup?

something is telling me I should be using the other option NA Bandstacked with LOF 1 & 2 ?

I just want to point out that my current setup with legacy settings seems to work fine, signal and reception is good but as mentioned seems my channels get mixed up since some transponders are the same on both sats.

I could be off on this one but hopefully someone can confirm or recommend..

also can my SS2 receive HD?

thanks in advance!!!

That looks correct to me. I suspect your switch is not being switched, and you're stuck on one satellite. 119 has Angel One and NASA and the CD-quality audio channels broadcast ITC. 110 has GolTV and Dish Home (6-channel screen). Can you get all of these, or only those channels on one sat?

That's really going to confuse matters since you have legacy and not DishPro LNBs!

According to one review I read, it can "with appropriate software". I think DVBdream is appropriate software. But please be aware of the fact that there is no HD on Dish Network broadcast ITC. Bell ExpressVU has a demo channel that you could get if you repoint your dish.

Hi TheKrell,

thanks for the feedback! much appreciated.

to answer your question, yes, I can scan and see channels from both sats but once it completes the channels are not where their supposed to be.

Example, I scanned 110, italian RAI on 600 shows up - it's supposed to be on 119 - at first I thought ok - I messed up so I reversed my disqc settings and scan again.....600 shows up again on 110....according to lyngsat this channel is on tp 12268 on 119 exactly as it is on 110!

I believe the transponder list is confusing channels (119/110 share some exact TP id's on these sats)

I just checked my transponder ini files and the ones that come with DVBD are a tad outdated....just did some mods using lyngsat I'll rescan and give it a go.....

thank again!!!

well...I managed to find new updated transponder lists made for DVBD, scanned and all done...channels come in as they should....

I must say after trying a slew of other DVB progs, DVBDream is the best, I am amazed at how well it handles the task....

Not sure if it's the SS2 card im using but the other overhyped progs just didn't cut it (MT + progDVB) - thanks to the devs for this!

cheers

TheKrell,

check this link for updated transponder pack, also includes an auto updater!! (really) - worked perfect for my 110/119 needs

Good Day Folks,
About "Where to find Transponders" I think that one useful site is joshyfun.peque.org/transponders/index.html because they update information every week. You can pickup Echostar 7(119), Direct TV 7S and AMC 16 and DirectTV 5, Echostar 8,10 (110) copying 2410.ini and 2500.ini

I would like some advice if possible from the experts around here.

I recently purchased a HAUPPAUGE WINTV NOVA-S-PLUS SATELLITE TV PCI CARD and it says that it has support for diseqc 1.0.

I installed DVBDream and it works as the best, but just for one bird (110 or 119) without any switch.

When I try to use my diseqc switch I can't change to LNB-B in switch position 2, 3 or 4 and the program scans the same channels in LNB-A in switch position 1.

Can you help me about "how to" set DVBDream in order to change the input from the diseqc switch?

CHPT,

I noticed this type of issue is usually caused by (but not limited to) a bad driver and /or transponder lists, weak signal....

try testing different drivers, also make sure your diseqc switch is setup properly before hand with the correct settings for your LNB's. (legacy, DP, etc...)
