A few problems with h.264 DVB-T

Postby _charon_ » Sun Oct 28, 2007 3:11 pm

In Poland DVB-T is during the test stage. There are two providers. Now both MPEG2 and MPEG4/AVC are used simultaneously (temporarily, they plan to use only MPEG4).
I experience some problems watching H.264 DVB-T.

Some channels work fine, some not. Even in the same multiplex I encounter such situation. There are 3 h.264 channels (and 3 MPEG2). One works always perfectly, the other two are usually with no picture, only sound. Sometimes the picture appears, but with stuttering and it gets delayed to the sound (no stuttering on the first channel).
The CPU usage is between 1-4%.

The only video configuration which works is:
CoreAVC (K-Lite codec pack)
Generic video renderer (with VMR and VMR9 I get something which doesn't look like a regular TV program).

The smaller problem is that I can't resize the picture of h.264 channels (no problem with MPEG2). No matter whether the window is in the original size, maximized or it is in the fullscreen mode. The TV picture is in the original size.

The 1.4 version works much better for me. Thanks for improvements. The stuttering problem seems to have been fixed.

But there still is the second problem. I can't resize the picture.
Here you can see the picture in fullscreen mode (Generic Video Renderer).

The problem with VMR9 is a bit different. The picture does resize, bit it is very small. Here is the screenshot. VMR (not 9) has the same problem as VMR9.

Overlay does not work.

Generic Video Renderer has the same problem, but I have found out how to fix it (for MPEG2) streams: Video options -> Generic Video Renderer -> Direct Draw -> uncheck RGB/YUV outside the screen. No such option for VMR(9).

I think you are using an old version of CoreAVC which had aspect ratio problems.

try "*" on the keyboard and CTRL +/- or ALT+/-
DVB Dream - because I have to dream about having time to code it

Indeed. I have updated K-Lite codec pack and now it works perfectly. Thanks.
