Genpix Skywalker Diseqc Switch Settings
Moderators:X05, Dreamer, FredB
I recently purchased a Genpix Skywalker DVB Card and have been trying to get it configured for sometime now. I recently got to the point that it is at least working to some extent. With My Theatre I can scan 110/119 and 82/91 and find most of the channels you would expect. I have also used the same hardware setup with a Neusat STB and had success. This tells me the dishes are aimed correctly and wired properly. With DVB Dream, I can scan 119 with success. I can even get the HD channels to scan and lock in. I have used the same disqec setting for the other 3 birds (changing the disqec switch port settings of course). When I try to scan any of the other three birds I get nothing. I have played with the settings but nothing seems to work. The lnb's are older dual port (not dish pro) units with only one of the two ports being utilized in all cases. It seems it just doesn't want to switch from the 119 port. I love the DVB Dream program, user friendly, nice picture and DN HD but need to find a way to grab the other 3 satellites.

Re: Genpix Skywalker Diseqc Switch Settings
what "the same disqec setting" are you talking about?I have used the same disqec setting for the other 3 birds (changing the disqec switch port settings of course).
There are no other settings (besides diseqc port number).
So, either you are doing something wrong, or your description needs clarification.
Genpix, thanks for responding. The other settings I am talking about are shown under the properties button after selecting the particular satellite. For instance, if I pick Nimiq1, and then properites, you can select from tabs labled LOF Settings, Raw Diseqc, 22KHz and Uncommited. Now I am not going to tell ou I know exactly what all that means but I can tell you that the selections I made for the 119 sat. are the same ones I used for the other three. It just doesn't seem like the card (or DVB Dream) wants to switch from one LNB to another. If I could only make 110 and 119 work, I would at least feel like I am getting what I was looking to get from the Genpix Skywalker.

I'm sorry to have missed providing the "settings", I do appreciate your attempt to help.
I have the switch type set as v1.0/2.0 Diseqc switch
Port 1 - Nimiq 1
Port2 - Nimiq 2
Port 3 - Echostar 7
Port 4 - Echostar 8,10
For each of the above ports the following settings were selected -
LOF:
Lof 1 - 11250000
Lof 2 - 14350000
Raw Diseqc:
Blank
22KHZ:
Off
Uncommitted:
For Port 3 (which works) this is set to 2
For all other ports I have tried various settings but they are currently blank. I believe I have tried setting this to 2 as well.
As I stated previously DVBDrean works great on Port 3 but when I scan another other sat., nothing is found.
Thanks for you help!

I can't help you with your current setup...but I don't believe that legacy LNB's are going to work perfectly for you. Note the setting in DVBDream on the DISEQC options where you can select "NA Bandstacked LNB"--this would be a DishPro LNB and is selected by default if you checked the box during setup for NA optimized settings.
Search around for info on others using legacy LNB's. You may need to use raw DISEQC commands or special .ini files.
However, most likely you would eliminate your problem by obtaining DishPro LNB's.

The LNB's are older Legacy Twin units. Basically there is one LNB for each of the4 satellites. There is the capability of connecting two output feeds from each LNB but I am only using one of the two in every case. The four LNB's then feed into ports 1,2,3 and 4 on a CHIETA HEAVY DUTY 4X1 DISEQC SWITCH. Sorry for the caps, this was a cut and paste.
Thanks for your replys.

One last question (I hope). I have ordered a pair of dish network dish pro plus lnb's. Each is a dual lnb. One will be looking at 110/119 and one will be pointed at 82/91. As I understand it, each lnb will have two outputs and one input (no intent to use this one). I have also read that it is important that port 1 (left side) be considered the 119 port and port 2 be considered the 110 port. I would assume that for the other sat. it would be port 1 for 91 and port 2 for 82? These will in turn be connected to a 4 x 1 diseqc switch. So in DD, what would the proper settings be under the Options > Disqec tab. Another words, I would assume that the port setting would match the satellite that they are in turn connected to. But what about the uncommitted switch setting? I am unclear on what is considered committed versus uncommitted switch ports.

there is no such thing as DPP Dual.
There is DPP Twin (assembly of two LNBs with internal switch).
last P in DPP (means Plus) describes the property of internal switch (committed).
You can not cascade committed diseqc switches. So, external diseqc switch + DPP Twin is a prohibited combination.
If you want to use simple diseqc switch, buy four DP Dual LNBs.
Or buy uncommitted switch.
PS: DPP44 can work with DPP Twin because it disables the switch which inside Twin head. Your diseqc switch can not do this.
