Looking for the right SWITCH

Postby george21 » Wed Apr 02, 2008 7:25 pm

Good day.

I too ksome time and searched the forum for this answer, but was not successful. So if I am repeating a thread here, I apologize in advance.

I'm relatively new to this DVB world and have been fighting my through with some success. I believe I'm down to a switch related issue. Currently I'm running the following configuration and hoping someone can provide recommendations on what would be both the cheapest and the most comprehensive; recognizing that the two may be mutually exclusive.

Configuration:
- Expressvu 20" Dish with standard LNBs (four cable configuration)
- DiskPro SW44 (which I know is not compatible after reading through the forum)
- Azerware/Twinhan 1041 DVB running driver version 1.1.0.3
- Pentium4 Core Duo 2.4 Dual Core / 2GB
- Microsoft MCE 2005 patched with C++ 2005 SP1, DirectX, .NET, etc...
- DVB Dream v1.4i with em**ation 3.0.3.6

The driver is loading fine and the scans come back with a % of the channels and most of those are missing the audio. Rescanning usually results in some new added and others losts, as well as some updates. Regretfully, never a complete list and only a few with both video and audio. Based on the forum, it sounds like the culperate is my SW44; however, I have no idea what I should replace it with. In addition to the DVB Card, I have a 9200 and a 3100 receiver I'd like to keep operational.

In reading around it sounds like the DishPro Plus 44 Switch (DPP44) is what I need, but I could not find in this forum if it is supported by DVBDream 14i. If it is, I'd also appreciate knowing the appropriate diseqc configuration for Niniq1/2 LNBs.

Addtionally, I was wondering if I needed to or should be replacing the existing Expressvu LNBs with a DiskPro Quad LNB. If so, does that fit the Expressvu 20" dish assemble or do I need to replace the whole unit. In which case, I'd be curious to know what motor I should include with such a bulk upgrade.

Once I know I have a full operational package, my intention is to "register", until then, I'm using the eval versions of this, ProgDVB and MyTheater (based on what I have seen DVBDream is my preference, if I can getting working fully). All of which are experiencing similar issues. With the expection of ProgDBV, which also seems to slow to a point it is impratical to use once the first scan is completed.

Thank you in advance and again apologize if I'm repeating something already posted.
