Error code 1

Postby vega07 » Sun Apr 19, 2009 6:09 pm

I purchased a Skywalker1 recently and was having a codec issue with running H.264 . Tried several different codecs with unsatisfactory results . I started getting Error code 1 opening dvb dream . Unhooked and rehooked Skywalker then ok . Tried more codecs, eventually Error code 1 again not showing device . Uninstalled DD and re-installed . Same error . Skywalker is showing under usb hub . Re-installed genpix driver to no avail. Any ideas as to why it wont reconize it ? I`m sure if i keep unplugging it and back in again it`ll eventually reconize it . This is a new system eg AMD Phenom II 920 , 2 gigs 1066 ram , Geforce 9500GT, XP . Sure is being a pain . I was using a Twinhan with no problem . System is working great except this DD issue .

probably, because of the "junk" you have installed (codecs and plug-ins), DVB Dream does not exit properly (with a crash).
As a result, SkyWalker-1 is still trying to pump the data, and next instance of DVB Dream can not initialize it.

Check DebugView for debug messages (especially, when you close DVB Dream). I bet, you will see crash messages and abnormal program termination.

PS: also, absence of proper grounding can show the same symptoms (due to noisy ground firmware can not be loaded reliably, as a result, firmware is not running -> error code during initialization).

Please describe how your dish/switch/coax-cables are grounded.

The only plugins i put in was em**ation . I`m using CoreAVC v1.9.5.0 for H.264 , Tried Arcsoft, Intervideo & Cyberlink for Video codec / Intervideo & Cyberlink for Audio codec. As far as grounding the RG-6 cable has a ground wire attatched to it . I have that connected to the dish itself > good connection ( removed paint for good contact and covered with grease ) , and the other end connected to the pc tower chassis . The switch i upgraded about 2 months ago to a better Quality one .

That is illegal grounding.
Read entire Grounding section in DIY area.

PS: it is the plug-in you mention which I meant when I was talking about crashes. try without it.
