Dont know if its set up right
Moderators:X05, Dreamer, FredB
I have a skywalker 1 and dvbdream but I dont know if its set up right. I installed the drivers for the skywalker but it didnt show up in the tuners section on dvbdream. I then checked the box to show all and chose the genpix and clicked ok but if i go under devices genpix is highlighted but it shows nothing about it. I have aimed my dish500 10 different times but i never seem to find a signal. So my question is, how do I figure out if its set up right?

please describe:
1) your LNBs (Dish 500 is not a description), switches
2) where is your dish pointed at
3) your coax-cable connections (hope you don't use splitters)
4) your switch settings in DVB Dream
5) your LNB settings in DVB Dream (type, LOF1, LOF2, SW, etc.)
Please describe how your dish/coax-cables are grounded (you may kill your skywalker-1, if your dish is grounded incorrectly).

dish 500 pointed at 119 and 110 with its original double lnbs as seen here http://www.satelliteinstaller.com/image ... 20500a.jpg
1 coax on each lnb running to a diseqc 2.0 on port1 and 2 to join. Coax running to grounded home connection on outside of house. Connected from inside house to Skywalker. all in all about 35 feet of coax cable joined by the diseqc and the outside/inside connection.
There really needs to be an updated tutorial, the one on the site is for 0.83 version. LNB settings are 11250000 and 14350000 for both 119 and 110. When I went through the setup I just chose the satellites, I didnt change any of the settings
I do not have cardsharing yet so i cant unscramble the channels, but that is only because i want to make sure everything works first before paying. Even without unscrambling the channels it should still show a signal and channel scan right

Picture shows two Dual LNBs but it does not tell are these legacy or DP LNBs.dish 500 pointed at 119 and 110 with its original double lnbs as seen here http://www.satelliteinstaller.com/image ... 20500a.jpg
If you want to get help and if someone asks you about LNB type, can you find some time to figure out what exact LNB type you are using?
if you will continue to provide vague answer, help would be vague as well.
As far as I can see, picture shows two legacy switches (or are these DP21 swithces?). These are not diseqc switches.1 coax on each lnb running to a diseqc 2.0 on port1 and 2 to join.
what is "home connection"?Coax running to grounded home connection on outside of house.
do you mean grounding block? where wires from grounding blocks are coming to?
again, you have not said WHAT LNB type have you selected (in software).LNB settings are 11250000 and 14350000 for both 119 and 110. When I went through the setup I just chose the satellites, I didnt change any of the settings
and you have not said how did you connect then to your switch (in software).
Have you verified dish alignment?
Did you connect DishNetwork receiver to your dish?
does it see sats 110 and 119?
We don't discuss illegal signal reception here.I do not have cardsharing yet so i cant unscramble the channels, but that is only because i want to make sure everything works first before paying. Even without unscrambling the channels it should still show a signal and channel scan right
especially, if you want to pay for that.
start to save money for the lawyers (you will need them when you get busted).
1. My guess, since I did say original lnbs, is that they are legacy. all they say on them is Digital LNBF
2. The picture is of the dish and lnbs that I have.. Not a picture of my setup, so like I said I have 1 LNB running to port1 and the other to port2. They are running to a diseqc 2.0 that I stated allready
3. The "home conection" I speak of on the outside of the house is a male coax connection in a weatherproof box that is connected to a male connection on the inside of the house. There is a copper wire that grounds the line from the connection outside. It follows along side of the house straight into the ground.
4. I dont have a dish receiver thats why I bought a Skywalker-1. If I wanted a set top receiver i would have bought one instead.
5. All Im asking for is a tutorial. many people have this setup but I cant seem to find a how to guide.

1) if you have Legacy LNBs you should not use DishPro LNB setting in software configuration.
3) are you 100% positive that grounding wire from you grounding block goes to you main house ground (and does not use standalone grounding rod)?
4) but do you have any tools to point a dish? do you have at least $5 signal meter?
5) do you want a tutorial how to point a dish? there are plenty of those on internet (just google).

1. what software settings?
3. yes im sure, it is connected to the same ground the electric meter is connected to
4. no i dont have a meter, i used the setting on dishpointer.com to point the dish
5. i dont need a tutorial on pointing the dish, i wouldnt be asking for help about setting up dvbdream and my skywalker if i needed a tutorial on pointing a dish. I need a tutorial on how to set up dvbdream.
Ive have looked at the tutorials on there website about setup but its for the 0.83 version hence it has things on there that are different when i set up. for instance on page 4 of the setup tutorial on the site is shows software and hardware mode. i didnt see this when i ran the setup for 1.4i nor do i see anything about software mode once i have the program installed

1. in your previous message you said that you use DishPro LNB settings (11250 and 14350 MHz lofs). Legacy LNB has nothing to do with 14350 MHz lof.
You have to point your dish first.
If you get NO satellite signal, you will scan NO channels.
There is no way around that.
You may play with software settings all day long, but without satellite signal you will receive nothing.

ok signal set and channels scanned. dont know if the diseqc works or not cause it seems to found the same channels on both sats. the only major problem now is that it didnt find any hd channels. during the scan everytime it said scanning turbo8qsk or what ever its called it said no signal. is that because of the lnbs or do i need to change a setting?

are you sure that:
1) you have Dual Legacy LNBs (and not Twin LNB)?
2) you have diseqc switch and not something else? What's written on the switch? how many inputs, outputs?
3) you use proper SR, FEC rate and Modulation for Turbo-coded TPs? What settings do you use for transponder 12311MHz on sat 110?
4) you properly described your LNBs in software configuration? what LNB type have you selected? what LOF(s)

I get all the channels except hd. yes I have a Diseqc and it works fine. I have 80 to 90% signal strength on both sats and have gone thru all the different lnb settings in dvbdream for sat 110. the only one that finds anything is the NA Legacy but it doesnt get turbo 8psk. heres what it says
